Nivin Pauly And Abrid Shine Booked For Alleged Cheating In ‘Action Hero Biju 2' Rights Dispute

Nivin Pauly And Abrid Shine Booked In Cheating Case

Nivin Pauly And Abrid Shine Booked for Alleged Cheating: A police case has been registered against Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly and director Abrid Shine following a complaint alleging financial fraud related to the film Action Hero Biju 2. The case was filed by P.S. Shamnas, a co-producer of the 2022 film Mahaveeryar, who has accused the duo of breach of trust and cheating. The news was first reported by Reporter Live.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered by the Thalayolaparambu police, the dispute centers around the rights to a proposed sequel to Action Hero Biju, the 2016 police procedural comedy that starred and was co-produced by Nivin Pauly alongside Abrid Shine and Shibu Thekkumpuram.

Shamnas alleges that he had paid ₹1.95 crore to acquire the rights to Action Hero Biju 2. However, he claims that the rights were later sold to another party for ₹5 crore without his knowledge or consent. The FIR also mentions that Nivin Pauly's production company, Pauly Jr. Pictures, allegedly received an advance payment of ₹2 crore as part of the secondary deal.

The complainant has estimated his financial loss at around ₹1.90 crore due to the alleged breach. The police have registered the FIR under sections that do not allow for immediate bail.

Past Collaborators Now in Dispute Over Film Rights

Action Hero Biju, released in February 2016, was a commercially successful film in the Malayalam film industry. The film, directed by Abrid Shine and starring Nivin Pauly, received both critical attention and audience approval. Nivin was later honored with the Best Actor, Malayalam award at the 64th Filmfare Awards South for his role.

The complainant, Shamnas, had earlier worked with the accused on Mahaveeryar, a 2022 fantasy drama directed by Abrid Shine and starring Nivin Pauly, Asif Ali, and Siddique. The film was produced under the Pauly Jr. Pictures banner.

Neither Nivin Pauly nor Abrid Shine has publicly responded to the allegations as of the time of this report.

Both Nivin Pauly and Abrid Shine have other projects in the pipeline. Nivin Pauly is expected to appear in upcoming films such as Sarvam Maya and Benz.
