Operation Sindoor: Mammootty And Mohanlal Salute Indian Armed Forces After Strikes On Terror Bases

Mammootty and Mohanlal Praise India's Operation Sindoor: Malayalam cinema heavyweights Mammootty and Mohanlal have praised India's military action, Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) early Tuesday morning. According to the Defence Ministry, the operation was a direct response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed 26 lives.

The military action reportedly involved precision missile strikes on nine locations linked to terror outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, including their bases in Bahawalpur and Muridke. According to a report by The Hindu, the Defence Ministry confirmed in a statement released shortly after 1:40 a.m. on May 7 that the strikes were aimed at dismantling infrastructure used to plan attacks on Indian soil.

Following the announcement, several public figures extended their support to the armed forces, including Mammootty and Mohanlal, two of the most prominent actors in the Malayalam film industry.

On social media, Mammootty posted a short message acknowledging the operation and the armed forces, saying, "Salute to our real heroes! #OperationSindoor proved again, when the nation calls, the #IndianArmy answers. Thank you for saving lives and restoring hope. You make the nation proud. Jai Hind!"

Mohanlal, also taking to social media, shared a more symbolic message: "We wore Sindoor not just as a tradition, but as a symbol of our unwavering resolve. Challenge us and we will rise, fearless and stronger than ever. Saluting every brave heart of the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and BSF. Your courage fuels our pride. Jai Hind! #OperationSindoor." He had earlier changed his Facebook cover image to the poster of 'Operation Sindoor.'

The two actors' posts have received widespread engagement online, resonating with many who see the operation as a necessary step to counter continued cross-border terrorism.

Operation Sindoor marks one of the most significant cross-border military actions since the Balakot strikes in 2019. While official figures on casualties and damage remain limited, government sources have indicated that the targets were hit with "high accuracy," with efforts made to avoid civilian harm. The situation continues to develop, with heightened alert along the Line of Control.
