Ponman OTT Release: Ponman, a Malayalam dark comedy directed by Jothish Shankar, premiered in theaters on January 30, 2025. Featuring Basil Joseph, Sajin Gopu, Lijomol Jose, Anand Manmadhan, and Deepak Parambol, the film is adapted from G. R. Indugopan's novel Naalanchu Cheruppakar.

Ponman Storyline

Set in coastal Kollam, Ponman revolves around PP Ajesh (Basil Joseph), a jewelry sales agent who lends gold to brides' families, anticipating repayment from wedding cash gifts. However, when one family struggles to return the gold, Ajesh's efforts to reclaim it lead to unforeseen challenges, unraveling societal issues tied to dowry and the deep-rooted cultural value of gold.

Ponman Cast and Crew

The Malayalam dark comedy Ponman features a stellar ensemble cast, led by Basil Joseph and supported by Sajin Gopu, Lijomol Jose, Deepak Parambol, and Anand Manmadhan. Adding depth to the film are seasoned actors Sandhya Rajendran, Rajesh Sharma, Kiran Peethambaran, Reju Sivadas, Jaya Kurupp, Midhun Venugopal, Thankam Mohan, and Shylaja P Ambu.

Directed by Jothish Shankar and produced by Vinayaka Ajith under the Ajith Vinayaka Films banner, Ponman features music by Justin Varghese, with Christy Joby composing the trailer soundtrack. The film's cinematography was handled by Sanu John Varghese, while the screenplay was crafted by G. R. Indugopan and Justin Mathew. Nidhin Raj Arol took charge of editing, Jothish Shankar led production design, Melwy J oversaw costumes, and Sudhi Surendran managed makeup.

The project was designed by Ranjith Karunakaran, with Vimal Vaijay as the production executive and Elson Eldhose as the chief associate director. Sound design was handled by Shankaran A. S. and K. C. Sidharthan, while Aravind Menon managed sound mixing. Phoenix Prabu choreographed the stunts, and Liju Prabhakar worked as the colourist. VFX was done by Nocturnal Octave Productions.
