Sameer Thahir Arrested In Hybrid Cannabis Case Granted Bail

Sameer Thahir Arrested In Hybrid Cannabis Case: Filmmaker and cinematographer Sameer Thahir was arrested by the Excise Department today in connection with an ongoing investigation into a hybrid cannabis case involving multiple filmmakers. The arrest follows a series of events in which the Excise Department apprehended directors Khalid Rahman, Ashraf Hamza, and another individual at a flat registered under Sameer Thahir's name.

As reported by Asianet News, Sameer Thahir was questioned by authorities earlier today regarding the case. Following the interrogation, the arrest was made, and Sameer was later granted station bail. The case has been filed against him under Section 25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Sameer Thahir, however, has maintained that he was unaware of any illicit activities occurring at the flat. He claimed that the property, which he had rented seven years ago, was not known to him as a place for drug use or distribution. He further stated that he had no knowledge of Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza bringing or using cannabis there.

The Excise Department's investigation began last week when they seized 1.6 grams of hybrid cannabis from Sameer Thahir's flat in Kochi. Khalid Rahman, Ashraf Hamza, and their friend Shalif Mohammad were reportedly present at the time. Authorities are now looking into whether Sameer Thahir was aware of any drug use at the property and if other individuals from the film industry had also visited and used drugs in the flat.

The interrogation of Sameer Thahir took place earlier this morning, and by the evening, authorities had made the arrest. Investigations are still ongoing as the authorities work to piece together the details surrounding the case.
