Sanal Kumar Sasidharan Releases Manju Warrier-Starrer Ah'r Kayyattam Online For Free

Sanal Kumar Releases Ah'r Kayyattam Online: Acclaimed filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan has made his film Ah'r Kayyattam, starring Manju Warrier, available online for free. In a bold move, Sanal Kumar shared Vimeo and Google Drive links to the film through his social media accounts, citing alleged organized efforts to block its theatrical release as the reason behind his decision.
Sanal Kumar, known for his award-winning films like Oraalppokkam and Sexy Durga, addressed his audience in a video message on Facebook. He detailed the challenges he faced, including legal troubles and personal threats, which led to his relocation to the United States. The filmmaker emphasized his moral obligation to release Ah'r Kayyattam to honor the contributions of the cast and crew who worked tirelessly to bring the film to life.
Ah'r Kayyattam, produced by Manju Warrier, was shot entirely in the Himalayas. Cinematographer Chandru Selvaraj received the State Award for Best Cinematography for his work on the film. However, the movie had remained inaccessible to the general public until now.
Sanal Kumar Alleges Threats, Shares Film Online as Act of Duty
In his video message, Sanal Kumar Sasidharan said that attempts to contact Manju Warrier, the film's lead actor and producer, were allegedly obstructed. He further claimed that Manju Warrier's life, as well as the lives of those associated with her, were at risk, preventing her from addressing the situation publicly. To support his claims, Sanal Kumar released an alleged audio recording of a conversation with Manju Warrier, which he believes highlights the gravity of her predicament.
The director also recounted his arrest three years ago following a controversy involving Manju Warrier. Though he was released on bail, Sanal Kumar stated that the incident marked the beginning of a campaign to stifle his filmmaking career. "I found out that there is an active chase behind my life, and somebody is stopping me from making any further movies," he said.
This is not the first time Sanal Kumar has resorted to an online release. He previously released his film Vazhakku, starring Tovino Thomas, under similar circumstances. In his message, he acknowledged potential criticism for his decision but stood firm, calling it his duty to the film and its creators.
"Many people came together to make this film, risking their lives. It is my duty to release it for the audience," Sasidharan said. "Please watch the film without any prejudices and share your opinions." He added.
