Shine Tom Chacko And Sreenath Bhasi To Be Questioned Today In Alappuzha Hybrid Cannabis Case

Shine Tom Chacko And Sreenath Bhasi To Be Questioned In Hybrid Cannabis Case: Actors Shine Tom Chacko and Sreenath Bhasi arrived early at the Alappuzha Excise Office today, ahead of their scheduled appearance in connection with the ongoing investigation into the hybrid cannabis case. Although they had been instructed to present themselves at 10 AM, both actors reached the office in advance and are currently waiting for the questioning to begin. Kochi-based model Soumya has also been summoned for questioning on the same day.
According to a report by Asianet News, a detailed questionnaire has been prepared by the Excise team based on the evidence collected so far. The responses from today's questioning will help the investigation team determine whether to formally list the actors and others as accused in the case.
The case took a significant turn after Taslima, who was earlier arrested, reportedly told investigators that she had consumed drugs alongside Sreenath Bhasi and Shine Tom Chacko. Further examination of Taslima's mobile phone revealed WhatsApp chats linked to drug dealings involving Sreenath Bhasi. In the case of Shine Tom Chacko, investigators primarily uncovered records of WhatsApp calls. Clarifying these communications is expected to be a key focus of today's interrogation.
Additionally, Shine Tom Chacko had informed the police earlier, when he was arrested in Kochi, that he was acquainted with Taslima. Financial transactions between Taslima and model Soumya have also come under scrutiny, with officials investigating whether these were connected to drug-related activities.
Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza Face Excise Action Over Cannabis Seizure
In a related development, the Excise Department will present the hybrid cannabis seized from filmmakers Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza before the court today. Efforts are ongoing to strengthen the evidence in the case. According to a report by Asianet News, the department has also intensified the search for a Kochi native believed to have supplied the substances to the filmmakers. Authorities plan to recall the accused for further questioning once this individual is taken into custody.
Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza were detained in the early hours yesterday after the Excise Special Squad conducted a raid based on a tip-off. The raid at a flat near the Goshree Bridge in Kochi led to the seizure of 1.6 grams of hybrid cannabis. Both filmmakers were released on bail shortly after their arrest, as the quantity of the substance did not meet the threshold for commercial possession.
Filmmaker Sameer Thahir, the owner of the flat where the drugs were found, has also been issued a notice by the Excise Department, summoning him for questioning.
The arrests have drawn attention due to the involvement of well-known figures in the Malayalam film industry. Officials maintain that the ongoing investigations are part of a broader crackdown on drug use within the entertainment sector.
