Shine Tom Chacko Attends Father's Funeral Rites Hours Ahead of Surgery: Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko, who was recently injured in a road accident in Tamil Nadu's Dharmapuri, is scheduled to undergo surgery on Monday. The actor sustained multiple injuries in the accident, including three fractures below his left shoulder and a minor spinal fracture, according to a report by News18 Malayalam. Despite his condition, Shine traveled from his hospital in Thrissur to Mundur early this morning to attend the funeral rites of his father, C. P. Chacko.
The funeral is reportedly scheduled to take place after 10:30 AM at the Carmel Matha Church in Mundur, Thrissur district. Shine, who is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital, was temporarily discharged to attend the ceremony and is expected to return to the hospital for his planned surgery later today.
Shine and His Mother Continue Treatment as Family Copes with Tragedy
Doctors have stated that while Shine may be discharged within three days following surgery, he will require approximately six weeks of rest for full recovery. His mother, Maria Carmel, who was also injured in the same accident, reportedly suffered a serious hip fracture with dislocation and a head injury. Though the injuries are significant, her condition is currently stable. Doctors have recommended at least two months of complete rest for her recovery.
Initially, the news of C. P. Chacko's death was withheld from Maria due to her fragile state. The family chose to inform her only after she had stabilized. Shine's sisters, Sumi and Ria, who reside in New Zealand, have arrived in Kerala to be with the family during this difficult time.
Chacko's body was brought to the family home in Mundur on Sunday evening from Jubilee Mission Hospital in Thrissur, where it had been kept for public homage.
The accident occurred around 7 AM on June 6 near Dharmapuri while the family was traveling by car from Kochi to Bengaluru. The vehicle, which was carrying Shine, his parents, brother, and driver, reportedly collided with a lorry. All five passengers were taken to the hospital, but C. P. Chacko succumbed to his injuries. Shine and his mother remain under medical care.
The tragic incident has brought a sudden and unforeseen pause to Shine's professional commitments, with the actor now focusing on recovery and supporting his family.
