Sreenivasan Death: The South film industry woke to the heartbreaking news of the Malayalam veteran actor-filmmaker Sreenivasan's passing away. The Malayalam legend passed away earlier today (Saturday, December 20) at the age of 69. As reported by a Bollywoodshadis report, the 'Pathemari' actor breathed his last at the Tripunithura Taluk Hospital in Kochi this morning at around 8:20 AM IST.

Sreenivasan, who hails from Kannur, had been staying in Kochi for the past several years. Apart from acting, he was also a director, screenwriter, dubbing artist, and producer. He acted in over 200 films, debuting with 'Manimuzhakkam' in 1976.

Over an illustrious career spanning more than five decades, Sreenivasan emerged as a towering figure in the Malayalam film industry as a screenwriter, director, producer and actor. The veteran artiste, aged 69, had reportedly been undergoing treatment for a long-term illness at his residence in Udayamperoor, according to a Mathrubhumi report. As his health condition deteriorated, he was rushed to a hospital in Thrippunithura late last night. Doctors confirmed his demise on Saturday morning. As per the same Mathrubhumi report, the actor passed away after experiencing breathing difficulties during a dialysis session.

As of now, Sreenivasan's family and team have not officially disclosed the exact cause of death, and further details are awaited.

Sreenivasan Funeral Updates

The final rites of legendary Malayalam actor Sreenivasan will be held on Sunday morning at 10:00 AM at his residence in Kandanad. Ahead of the funeral, his mortal remains will be kept at Ernakulam Town Hall on Saturday from 1 PM to 3 PM, allowing the public to pay their last respects, as updated by Mathrubhumi.

Interestingly, Sreenivasan once shared that his sons' names were inspired by his deep love for sports. While Vineeth was named after celebrated hockey player Vineet Kumar, Dhyan drew inspiration from Indian hockey legend Dhyan Chand.
