Sreenivasan Funeral Time: The funeral of actor, screenwriter and filmmaker Sreenivasan, who passed away on Saturday morning (December 20), will be held today, December 21, at 10 a.m. at his residence in Kandanad near Thrippunithura. His body was brought home on Saturday afternoon after completion of procedures at the Thrippunithura Taluk Hospital, where his death had been confirmed earlier in the day.

The 69-year-old had been unwell for an extended period and was under regular medical care. On Saturday morning, while being taken to a private hospital for a scheduled dialysis session, he experienced sudden breathing difficulty. He was immediately shifted to the Thrippunithura Taluk Hospital, where attempts to stabilize him were unsuccessful. As per reports, his death was confirmed around 8:30 a.m.

Public Pays Last Respects as Funeral Arrangements Finalised

Arrangements were made for the public to pay their respects. His body was initially kept for public viewing at the house in Kandanad. Around 1 p.m., the body was moved from the Kandanad residence to the Town Hall, where people from various walks of life gathered to view the late actor and offer their condolences. Later, the body was taken back to the house, where crowds continued to arrive until late at night. Sreenivasan had been staying at his Udayamperoor residence while undergoing treatment for long-standing heart-related ailments.

Born on April 6, 1956, in Pattiam in the Kannur district, Sreenivasan's career in Malayalam cinema spanned nearly five decades. He acted in more than 225 films and wrote several widely appreciated screenplays. Over the years, he also directed two films that received both critical recognition and commercial success. He is survived by his wife, Vimala, and sons Vineeth Sreenivasan and Dhyan Sreenivasan, both of whom are active in the film industry.

According to a report by Asianet News, the cremation ceremony scheduled for 10 a.m. today will take place in the courtyard of the Kandanad residence. The funeral is expected to be held with full state honours.
