Superman Kerala Box Office 3 Days Collection: James Gunn And David Corenswet Movie Sees Decent Opening Weekend

Superman Kerala Box Office Collection: James Gunn's Superman, the much-anticipated reboot that officially launches the new DC Universe (DCU), is off to a relatively strong start in Kerala. According to early estimates shared by industry tracker AB George on X (formerly Twitter), the film has managed to collect ₹2.33 crore in gross earnings across its first three days at the Kerala box office.
Released in India on July 11, the film had its global premiere earlier on July 7 at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles. Superman introduces David Corenswet as the new face of Clark Kent/Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan stepping into the role of Lois Lane. The film also features Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, reimagining the classic antagonist with a modern twist.
On July 13 alone, the film is estimated to have grossed around ₹71 lakh in Kerala, suggesting steady interest among viewers, especially considering its genre and origin as a Hollywood superhero film. These figures, while modest in comparison to local blockbusters, are considered noteworthy given the regional market dynamics and competition from other domestic releases.
James Gunn's Reimagining of Superman
The film marks a significant shift for DC Studios. Directed and written by James Gunn, Superman is the first feature under the newly restructured DCU and serves as the second reboot of the character on screen. Production began in early 2024, with major portions shot in Georgia and Ohio, alongside sequences filmed in Norway's Arctic landscapes.
While the film avoids the "Legacy" subtitle that was initially part of its working title, the story draws influence from iconic DC comic runs, including All-Star Superman by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely. Gunn's version presents a younger Superman trying to earn the public's trust in a world where Lex Luthor's influence looms large and skepticism runs high.
In terms of audience reception in Kerala, screen occupancy levels are expected to fluctuate depending on weekday footfalls and word-of-mouth responses in the coming days.
As the film enters its first full week, all eyes are now on how Superman sustains its momentum, both in Kerala and across other Indian states. Further box office updates will likely provide a clearer picture of its long-term performance.
