Superman Kerala Box Office Collection: Here's How James Gunn's DC Reboot Movie Performed In 2 Days

Superman Kerala Box Office 2-Day Collection Report Out

Superman Kerala Box Office Collection: James Gunn's Superman, the first official entry in the revamped DC Universe (DCU), has registered a moderate start at the Kerala box office. Released in India on July 11, the superhero film has reportedly collected ₹1.62 crore in its first two days in the state, according to Kerala Box Office Gross Estimates shared by film industry tracker AB George.

The film, starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, is DC Studios' effort to relaunch one of its most iconic characters for a new generation. The reboot follows a series of changes and cancellations within the earlier DCEU, including the scrapped sequel to Man of Steel and the troubled production of Justice League. It also marks the beginning of what is being introduced as Chapter One: Gods and Monsters in the new DC Universe (DCU).

According to AB George, the film grossed ₹83 lakh in Kerala on Saturday, July 12, indicating steady interest among superhero fans in the region. While the figures may not rival the opening numbers of some recent Hollywood hits in the state, the film seems to be gradually gaining momentum over the weekend.

Early Kerala Response Suggests Steady Weekend for Superman

Directed and written by James Gunn, the movie introduces audiences to a new Superman, both in tone and execution. Gunn's vision blends familiar elements with a fresh narrative, as the plot follows Superman's efforts to win the trust of a skeptical public manipulated by billionaire antagonist Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult.

Superman had its world premiere at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles on July 7 and was released globally beginning July 9. In the U.S. and India, the theatrical release occurred on July 11. The film has been made available in IMAX and standard formats across major multiplex chains.

In Kerala, as in other parts of India, superhero films traditionally perform better in urban centers and multiplex circuits.

More concrete numbers are expected to emerge after the weekend, which will give a clearer picture of the film's performance in Kerala. Trade analysts are closely watching how it holds up against local Malayalam releases and other global films currently in theaters.

Take a Poll

Superman also features Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, and others in supporting roles. The movie draws inspiration from Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's comic book series All-Star Superman.

Whether the film maintains its pace in the coming days remains to be seen, but for now, it has managed to establish a noticeable presence in Kerala's box office charts.
