Thudarum Box Office Collection: Mohanlal's Film Becomes First To Cross ₹100 Crore Mark In Kerala

Thudarum Kerala Box Office Mohanlal s Film Crosses 100 Cr

Thudarum Box Office Collection: Thudarum, the Malayalam crime thriller starring Mohanlal and directed by Tharun Moorthy, has made history by becoming the first film to collect ₹100 crore from the Kerala box office alone.

The milestone was confirmed by Mohanlal on his official Facebook page, where he thanked audiences across the state for the support. "Thudarum storms into the record books with its first 100 crore mark exclusively at the Kerala box office! A milestone that we created together! Thank you, Kerala," he wrote.

A look at Mohanlal's 'Thudarum'

Released on April 25, 2025, Thudarum has steadily drawn audiences with its storytelling and performances by the lead actors. The film, co-written by Tharun Moorthy and K. R. Sunil, follows the life of Benz Shanmugham, a former stuntman turned taxi driver, whose quiet life in a small hill town is upended by a seemingly routine trip involving two police officers. What begins as a regular favor gradually escalates into a life-altering journey filled with unexpected revelations and emotional upheaval.

The movie marks a notable collaboration between Tharun Moorthy and K. R. Sunil, a documentary photographer who originally conceived the story. According to Sunil, the plot was inspired by a real-life encounter during his travels and aimed to explore its emotional layers through character-driven storytelling. Producer M. Renjith of Rejaputhra Visual Media later brought the team together, and Mohanlal reportedly expressed interest in the project even before Tharun Moorthy came on board to direct.

Apart from Mohanlal, the film also features Shobana as Lalitha, Benz's wife, and Prakash Varma as police officer George Mathan. The supporting cast includes Farhaan Faasil, Binu Pappu, Maniyanpilla Raju, Aarsha Chandini Baiju, Thomas Mathew, and others. The technical crew includes cinematographer Shaji Kumar, editors Shafeeque V. B. and Nishadh Yusuf, and composer Jakes Bejoy.

While the film's themes explore personal loss, institutional power, and the emotional burden of truth, it has struck a chord with viewers, resulting in sustained box office performance. The ₹100 crore milestone at the Kerala box office is particularly significant given the regional market's size and signals the film's strong connection with local audiences.
