Thudarum Day 8 Kerala Box Office Collection Crosses 50 Cr

Thudarum Kerala Box Office Collection: Mohanlal's latest Malayalam crime thriller, Thudarum continues its impressive run at the Kerala box office, having officially entered the ₹50 crore club on its eighth day of release. The film, directed by Tharun Moorthy and produced by M. Renjith under Rejaputhra Visual Media, was released in theatres on April 25, 2025, and has been performing steadily at the box office.

Thudarum crosses ₹50 crore in Kerala on Day 8

Industry tracker AB George reported that Thudarum has grossed over ₹50 crore in Kerala alone on its 8th day (today), making it the second fastest Malayalam film to reach this milestone-following only Empuraan, which also featured Mohanlal. This milestone makes Thudarum the fourth film in the actor's career to breach the ₹50 crore mark in the state, after Pulimurugan, Lucifer, and Empuraan.

With only 15 Malayalam films having crossed ₹50 crore in Kerala's box office history, Mohanlal's name now accounts for four of them-an all-time record in the industry.

Beyond Kerala, Thudarum has also posted strong numbers from other parts of India. The film's Malayalam version alone collected ₹10.60 crore in its first seven days from the rest of the country, further reflecting the widespread interest it has generated.

Advance booking trends for the film's second Sunday show no signs of slowing down. According to George, Kerala pre-sales for Sunday have already exceeded ₹2.5 crore, setting up what could be the biggest second Sunday in the state's box office history.

Set in the town of Ranni, Thudarum follows the story of Shanmugham-nicknamed Benz-a taxi driver whose life takes a dark turn after his car becomes entangled in a crime. What starts as a regular day on the job quickly spirals into a nightmare involving corrupt officials and a hidden past. As the narrative unfolds, Benz is driven to seek justice on his own terms after the system fails him.

The film was co-written by Tharun Moorthy and K. R. Sunil, the latter of whom drew inspiration from a real-life encounter during one of his travels. The story reportedly caught Mohanlal's interest early on, even before the director was confirmed. The cast also includes Shobana, Prakash Varma, Farhaan Faasil, and others in key roles.

With strong weekday holds and growing weekend interest, Thudarum is well-positioned to extend its box office momentum into the coming weeks. How far it will go remains to be seen, but for now, it's clear the film has struck a chord with Malayalam cinema audiences.
