Thudarum: Plot, Cast, and Production Insights
The story unfolds in the quiet hill town of Ranni and revolves around Shanmugham, also known as Benz, a former stuntman turned taxi driver. What begins as a tale of ordinary life soon evolves into a deeper narrative involving family, loss, and a troubling encounter with systemic corruption. Mohanlal portrays Benz, while Shobana plays his wife, Lalitha. The film's cast also includes Prakash Varma, Binu Pappu, Thomas Mathew, Farhaan Faasil, Aarsha Chandini Baiju, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Irshad.
Thudarum had been in development for some time, with Mohanlal reportedly attached to the project even before Tharun Moorthy came on board as director. According to interviews given during the film's promotional phase, Sunil drew inspiration for the story from a real-life incident he encountered while traveling as a documentary photographer.
The film's technical crew includes cinematographer Shaji Kumar, editors Shafeeque V.B. and Nishadh Yusuf, and composer Jakes Bejoy, who handled both the original score and background music. Audiography was done by Vishnu Govind. The film's visual presentation benefited from Gokul Das's production design and costumes by Sameera Saneesh. Pattanam Rasheed handled makeup duties, while Binu Pappu served as co-director and also appears in a supporting role.
With over ₹211 crore in global earnings and still running in theaters, the film's performance reflects steady audience interest despite the absence of large-scale pre-release buzz. Further box office updates are awaited as the film nears the end of its third week in cinemas.
