Vilaayath Budha Box Office Collection: The Malayalam drama Vilaayath Budha, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shammi Thilakan, concluded its opening weekend with modest earnings at the box office. The film, which released in theaters on November 21, 2025, is directed by debutant Jayan Nambiar and adapts the novel of the same name by G. R. Indugopan.

According to preliminary data from box office tracker Sacnilk, the film collected an estimated ₹3.45 crore (India net) in its first three days. Vilaayath Budha opened on Friday with ₹1.7 crore, but the collections dropped on Saturday to ₹1 crore, representing a decline of over 41%. Sunday saw a further dip, bringing in roughly ₹0.75 crore, marking a cumulative total of ₹3.45 crore over the opening weekend.

Plot and Setting

Set in the scenic locales of Marayoor, the story revolves around Bhaskaran Master and his protégé, a smuggler known as Double Mohanan. The central conflict arises over the ownership of a sandalwood tree planted by Bhaskaran Master, which becomes the focal point of tension between the mentor and his student. The narrative delves into themes of rivalry, ambition, and the consequences of personal choices, offering an action drama set in rural Kerala.

The project was originally conceptualized by the late Sachy in 2020. Following his passing, Jayan Nambiar assumed the directorial responsibilities and brought the adaptation to the big screen. The film features music by Jakes Bejoy, cinematography by Arvind S Kashyap ISC - Renadive, and editing by Sreejith Sarang.

Alongside Prithviraj and Shammi Thilakan, the film features Anu Mohan, Dhruvan, Kiran Peethambaran, Adat Gopalan, and Pramod Veliyanadu, among others. Behind the camera, production design was handled by Benglan, with art direction by Jithu Sebastian and makeup by Manu Mohan. Action sequences were coordinated by Rajasekhar, Kalai Kingson, Supreme Sundar, and Mahesh Mathew, while Ajayan Adat, Piousmon Sunny, and M R Rajakrishnan managed sound design and mixing. VFX work was completed by Black Maria Studio and Accel Media, with Rajesh Nair as visual effects director.
