Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: Mammootty Votes In Thrikkakara, Calls Voting A Once-In-Five-Years Opportunity
Mammootty Casts His Vote: Polling for the Kerala Assembly Elections 2026 is underway across the state on April 9, with voters turning up at booths since the early hours. Among those who exercised their franchise was actor Mammootty, who cast his vote in the Thrikkakara constituency.

Mammootty arrived at Booth No. 106 set up at Christ Convent School in Ponnurunni to participate in the electoral process. He was accompanied by his wife, Sulfath. Dressed in a brown long-sleeved collared shirt and wearing black sunglasses, Mammootty's presence drew attention from voters and others gathered near the polling booth.
Mammootty briefly interacted with the media and said that voting is an opportunity that comes only once in five years, urging everyone to exercise their franchise.
Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: Polling Across 140 Constituencies
The voting process, which will decide the next government in Kerala, is being held in 140 constituencies, involving a wide cross-section of the electorate.
As per election data, nearly 2.71 crore voters are eligible to participate this time. A total of 30,495 polling booths have been set up across Kerala. Officials have increased the number of booths by around 5,000 compared to the previous Lok Sabha election to ensure smoother voter management. Each booth has been arranged to handle up to 1,200 voters.
Polling commenced at 7 a.m. and will continue until 6 p.m. In several areas, voters were seen lining up even before polling began, with queues forming as early as 6 a.m. The early turnout pointed to a steady start, with election authorities overseeing arrangements across districts.
Among those who participated in the voting process were several prominent public figures. Actors including Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, Jagdish, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Ramesh Pisharody were among those who cast their votes at their respective polling booths. Union Minister Suresh Gopi and Leader of the Opposition V. D. Satheesan also exercised their franchise, as polling continued across the state.
