Marathi Stalwarts Lead The Way In Malayalam Film Achappa’s Album
A Malayalam narrative finds a distinct Marathi resonance in Achappa's Album, directed by Deepti Pillay Sivan. Bringing together actors like Mohan Agashe and Aadinath Kothare, the film reflects a conscious casting choice rooted in long-standing creative intent and a growing synergy between regional film industries in India, where strong content and powerful performances take precedence over language. For Deepti, this was a clear vision to collaborate with both actors and align the film's emotional core with performers she deeply admired, positioning the film to connect with audiences across both the South and Maharashtra while reinforcing that compelling cinema knows no boundaries.

For Mohan Agashe, the casting journey began at the writing stage itself. The director shares that while shaping the character, she instinctively visualised his face, and that association stayed through the process.
Aadinath Kothare, too, was a natural fit. Having followed his work over the years, Deepti considered him her first choice early on, confident that his approach to performance would complement the film's tone.
Deepti Pillay Sivan confirms the story and comments, "I have always felt that the emotional truth of a character goes beyond language. I have admired Mohan Agashe's work for years, and while writing this part, I could only see him in it. With Aadinath as well, he was my first choice because of the honesty he brings to his performances. For me, actors like them do not belong to one industry or language. They elevate the story they are part of, and that is what makes a movie truly connect."
Produced by NFDC, the film slated to release on 24 April theatrically all across the country, also stars Anjana Appukuttan, Priyanka Nair, and Sidhanshu Sanjeev Sivan.
