Purple Halcyon Opens Up On Subscription Earnings: Kerala-based digital creator Ashwani A, known on Instagram as Purple Halcyon, has addressed several claims circulating online about her earnings and subscription-based content, following recent discussions around her profile and the sudden disappearance of her account.

According to a report by Asianet News, citing her interview with BiggBoss Grandma, Ashwani clarified that widely shared figures regarding her income are inaccurate. She also responded to speculation about how Instagram subscriptions work and the nature of content offered through the feature. She further noted that she works in the marketing field alongside her content creation activities.
Ashwani A On Instagram Subscription Earnings
Ashwani stated that her monthly income cannot be defined as a fixed figure, noting that earnings fluctuate. She explained that the subscription fee paid by users does not entirely reach creators, as platforms such as Meta deduct their share before transferring the remaining amount. According to her, claims suggesting she earns around ₹1 crore per month are not correct.
She also addressed the perception around subscription pricing, pointing out that creators do not receive the full amount charged to subscribers. Taxes and platform fees are deducted from the total, making the final income variable. While declining to disclose her exact earnings, she indicated that online estimates often exaggerate the scale of revenue generated through subscriptions.
The creator further clarified that Instagram's subscription feature is not associated with explicit or prohibited content. She stated that content violating platform guidelines would not be monetised and could lead to restrictions on the account. Her comments come amid ongoing discussions on social media regarding the type of content offered through paid subscriptions.
Ashwani also mentioned that content creation involves costs, including production expenses for reels and other posts. She noted that some aspects of content creation require resources that are not always visible to audiences.
Her remarks follow a period of heightened attention around her social media presence, particularly after her Instagram account, which reportedly had tens of thousands of subscribers and a significant follower base, became inaccessible. The development had led to speculation, along with mixed reactions from users online.
She also addressed refund-related concerns raised by some users, stating that subscription payments are processed through the platform rather than directly by the creator. She added that she had issued refunds in a few cases during the early stages of her subscription model.
Ashwani's response comes at a time when Instagram's subscription feature is gaining traction among creators in India, with increasing debate around monetisation, content value, and transparency. While discussions continue, her statements offer insight into how subscription-based earnings function from a creator's perspective.
