Ranjith Case Update: Bengali Actress Reacts After Director's Remand, Says ‘Karma Won't Spare Anyone'
Bengali Actress Responds On Ranjith Case: A Bengali actress who had earlier accused Malayalam filmmaker Ranjith has reacted to his recent arrest and remand in connection with a fresh sexual harassment complaint, stating that "karma won't spare anyone." Her remarks come after the latest case against the director led to his remand.

According to a report by Asianet News, the actress said the latest complaint against Ranjith reinforces her long-standing allegations and expressed gratitude to the woman who recently approached the police. She also remarked that the new developments have, in her view, validated what she had spoken about earlier.
The actress had publicly shared her experience in 2024, referring to an incident that allegedly took place during the filming of 'Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha' in 2009. She had accused Ranjith of inappropriate behaviour and an attempt at sexual assault at a guest house in Kochi during the shoot. While a police investigation was conducted and a chargesheet was filed, the case was later dismissed by the High Court on technical grounds, citing the expiry of the time limit for taking cognisance of the offence.
Reflecting on her experience, the actress noted that it took her 15 years to speak about the incident publicly. She also pointed out that her case did not proceed due to procedural delays, and reiterated her demand that those accused of such offences should face legal consequences.
Past Allegations And Latest Case Leading To Arrest
Apart from this case, Ranjith has faced other allegations in the past. In 2012, a man from Kozhikode filed a complaint alleging that he was sexually assaulted by the director at a hotel in Bengaluru after being invited there following an acquaintance on the sets of Bavuttiyude Namathil. The complaint also included claims of coercion and the taking of explicit photographs. A case was registered by the police; however, it was later quashed by the Karnataka High Court in 2025, citing a significant delay in filing the complaint.
The current case, which led to Ranjith's arrest, stems from allegations made by an actress who accused him of attempting sexual assault inside a caravan during a film shoot in Fort Kochi on January 9. Police took him into custody after intercepting his vehicle in Thodupuzha, following directions from senior officials. He was later produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
The complainant in the latest case has reportedly stated that she approached authorities after undergoing counselling for mental distress. Investigators proceeded with the arrest after assessing her confidential statement and other aspects of the case.
