Still No OTT Release For These Malayalam Movies: Mammootty's Bazooka, Prithviraj's Vilayath Buddha And More

Malayalam Movies Still Awaiting OTT Release: While most Malayalam films make their digital debut within a few weeks or months of their theatrical release, several titles are still awaiting an official OTT premiere. As of June 30, 2026, a number of films featuring popular stars such as Mammootty, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Nivin Pauly, Dileep, Asif Ali and Unni Mukundan have not received or announced an official OTT release despite completing their theatrical runs.

Here is a look at some notable Malayalam films that are yet to arrive on OTT platforms.

Ramachandra Boss & Co (2023)

Released during the 2023 Onam season, Ramachandra Boss & Co marked Haneef Adeni's collaboration with Nivin Pauly. The action-comedy revolves around Ramachandra Boss and a group of unlikely partners who come together for a carefully planned heist involving expatriates.

The cast also includes Aarsha Chandini Baiju, Jaffar Idukki, Vinay Forrt, Mamitha Baiju, Vijilesh and Sreenath Babu. Music was composed by Midhun Mukundan. Despite generating pre-release attention, the film received mixed-to-negative critical response and did not perform well at the box office. It is still awaiting an official OTT release.

Otta (2023)

Academy Award-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty made his directorial debut with Otta, a drama-thriller inspired by the novel Runaway Children. The film stars Asif Ali, Indrajith Sukumaran and Arjun Ashokan in lead roles.

The story follows two young friends who leave their homes after facing difficult family circumstances. Featuring music by M. Jayachandran, the film reached theatres in October 2023 but received a mixed critical reception. More than two years later, its streaming release remains unannounced.

Bandra (2023)

Directed by Arun Gopy and written by Udaykrishna, Bandra brought together Dileep and Tamannaah Bhatia, who made her Malayalam film debut with the project. The romantic gangster drama also featured Dino Morea, Mamta Mohandas, R. Sarathkumar, Siddique and several other actors in prominent roles.

Released during the 2023 Diwali period, the film struggled commercially after receiving largely negative reviews. An OTT premiere has yet to be confirmed.

Thankamani (2024)

Thankamani is a survival crime thriller directed by Ratheesh Reghunandan. Starring Dileep in the lead role, the film draws inspiration from a real-life incident that took place in Thankamany, Kerala, in 1986.

The supporting cast includes Manoj K. Jayan, Neetha Pillai, Pranitha Subhash, Ajmal Ameer, Siddique, Sudev Nair and John Vijay. Although it released in March 2024, the film has not secured a digital release so far.

Get-Set Baby (2025)

Unni Mukundan headlined Get-Set Baby, a comedy-drama directed by Vinay Govind. The film also stars Nikhila Vimal, Chemban Vinod Jose, Shyam Mohan, Surabhi Lakshmi, Johny Antony and Sudheesh.

Released in February 2025, the comedy-drama completed its theatrical run, but the makers are yet to announce an OTT streaming release.

Bazooka (2025)

One of the most discussed Malayalam releases of 2025, Bazooka starred Mammootty alongside filmmaker-actor Gautham Vasudev Menon. Directed by debutant Deeno Dennis, the action thriller was backed by Yoodlee Films and Theatre of Dreams.

The film featured music by Saeed Abbas and Midhun Mukundan. Although expectations were high before release, the film received mixed-to-negative reviews and underperformed at the box office. As of June 2026, it remains unavailable on streaming platforms.

Vilayath Buddha (2025)

Based on G. R. Indugopan's novel, Vilayath Buddha stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shammi Thilakan in key roles. The adaptation was initially developed by the late filmmaker Sachy before director Jayan Nambiar took over the project.

Featuring music by Jakes Bejoy, the action drama reached theatres in November 2025. Despite its literary source material and notable cast, the film did not enjoy a successful theatrical run. An official OTT release has not yet been announced.

Magic Mushrooms (2026)

Released in January 2026, Magic Mushrooms is written, directed and scored by Nadirshah. The film features Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Akshaya in the lead roles.

Following its theatrical release, the film failed to make a significant impact commercially. Like several other Malayalam releases in recent years, it is still waiting for an official digital streaming premiere.

As of June 30, 2026, these films remain unavailable on OTT platforms despite completing their theatrical runs. Until producers or streaming services make official announcements, audiences will have to wait for updates on their digital premieres.
