Campus-based flicks have always been appreciated by Malayalam cine-goers. The superhit film Classmates was also a campus-based film. College Kumaran is another similar film that hits the big screens this year. Directed by Thulasidas and produced by Bensy Martin under the banner of Fairy Queen Productions, the film will be distributed by Emil and Eric. This is Thulasidas's second movie with Mohanlal and will offer plenty of laughs for the audiences.

The movie revolves around the story of an ex-military officer named Kumaraettan (Mohanlal) who is forced to take up the job of a college canteen supervisor maintained by his family for years. A chronic bachelor, Kumaraettan is a close friend of all college folks. The college students seek his advice in almost all matters, including personal issues of love. He is so much admired by the college students that they include him in all major college events and tours. But there is someone in the college who hates him a lot. Madhavi (Vimala Raman), the college's history professor, hates Kumaraettan as she feels that he is the major reason behind the students getting pampered.

After having rendered a successful Hello and another good movie Alibhai, College Kumaran has Mohanlal opposite six female leads. Apart from Vimala playing the main heroine, the movie also casts five other female leads, including Ramya Nambeesan and Samvrutha Sunil. Other cast members include Balachandra Menon, Nedumudi Venu, Janardhanan, Siddique, Risa Bava, Babu Namboothiri and Saikumar.

Suresh Poduval has penned the story and screenplay. Ouseappachan scores the music for the film. The movie is slated for Ramzan release.
