Naadiya Kollapetta Raathri, Madhu and Suresh Gopi's much awaited film, was released last week. The film, an investigative thriller, is an impressive show of the director's talents. But the film is not as good as the CBI films that the very same directed a few years back. But one thing that any Malayalam Film fan will agree upon is that the film has never seen before elements in such previous kinds of films.

The first scene of the film is at the Salem Railway Station where an Anti Criminal Task Force is headed by an IPS officer Sharafudhin Taramasi (Suresh Gopi). Sharafudhin Taramasi is the leader of the team, an expert at such operations. He is investigating the Souparnika Express case and making efforts to solve it. Two murders took place along with one murder attempt in the train during its inaugural run.

Nadiya Mather (Kavya Madhavan) who took the train after she missed her flight is found brutally wounded and almost dead. They soon find out that she is brain dead. The people who are around the place where the mishap took place don't do much about her lying there except starting to gossip about it. Two other ladies, Thulasimani and a NDTV reporter Shreya Maria, are found dead too. Thulasimani is found hanging and Shreya Maria is found on the tracks. They were all three travelling in first class AC compartments. The rest of the film is about how the case is solved.

Suresh Gopi plays the role of an investigating officer with ease. He has done full justice to his role. As a matter of fact, he didn't even have to act. The same too goes for Kavya Madhavan. The director has drone well to extract flawless acting out of her. The others in the cast are Siddique, Shammi Thilakan, Rajan B Dev, Urmila Unni, Subair, Suresh Krissna, Vijakumar and Madhupal.

Siddique though has overacted in many a place in the film but it does not count as that big a blemish on the film because the damage is minimal. PC Mohan has put his editing skills to the test in the film. Anandhakuttan's cinematograph deserves a mention here. The art direction by Gireesh has made the backdrops in the film look almost authentic. The background score by Raajamani is commendable.

Watch the film but don't look for much in it.
