Breaking
News
Live,
directed
by
Sudhir
Ambalapadu
once
again
treads
on
the
plot
of
experimental
cinema,
like
many
other
Malayalam
films
released
recently.
The
film
is
based
on
the
much
hyped
rape
and
murder
that
had
made
headlines
last
year.
Breaking
News
Live
no
doubt
is
a
sincere
effort
on
the
part
of
director
Sudhir
Ambalapadu.
In
spite
of
the
very
emotional
and
sensitive
subject,
the
movie
somehow
fails
to
touch
the
chord.
The
message
that
the
film
tries
to
convey
is
sincere.
Through
his
narrative,
Sudhir
asks
the
citizens
to
get
together
and
fight
for
our
rights.
The
first
half
of
the
film
especially
seems
half
baked
and
fails
to
make
the
'connect'
with
the
audience.
Cinematography
and
songs
by
Mohan
Sithara
also
fails
to
impress.
The
climax,
however
is
very
interesting
and
has
that
much
needed
punch
which
makes
the
film
worth
watching.
Story
Nayana
(Kavya
Madhavan)
is
a
graduate
in
catering
technology
and
is
looking
forward
to
marry
her
co-worker
(Vineeth)
at
the
college
soon.
Nayana
gets
close
to
Swapna
(Mydhili),
who
is
working
with
ITL,
a
tour
company.
Swapna
has
the
responsibility
of
taking
care
of
her
aged
grandmother
(Sukumari)
and
a
mentally
retarded
brother.
She
is
all
set
to
marry
soon.
On
her
return
from
a
college
tour,
Nayana
gets
into
a
compartment
of
train
which
has
Swapna,
and
a
host
of
travellers
including
a
women
hockey
team
on
it.
During
the
course
of
her
journey,
she
finds
a
hefty
Tamilian
guy
trying
to
misbehave
with
Swapna
and
in
her
efforts
to
get
rid
of
him,
she
asks
for
help.
Nayana
is
shocked
and
unable
to
react
on
time
and
both
of
them
falls
off
the
train.
Nayana
is
unable
to
come
out
of
the
shock
though
she
keeps
this
incident
a
secret.
She
then
comes
across
a
news
report
revealing
details
of
a
girl
who
is
admitted
in
a
coma
stage
for
days.
The
girl
eventually
dies,
and
Nayana
develops
a
deep
guilt
feeling
that
affects
her
life
in
more
than
one
way.
Performances
Kavya
Madhavan
excels
in
her
role
as
she
carried
the
film
on
her
shoulders.
Vineeth
and
the
rest
of
the
cast
does
average
job.
Verdict
Breaking
News
Live
is
only
worth
a
one
time
watch,
and
nothing
else.
