Varsham

a
family
drama

and
directed
by
Ranjth
Sankar.
Mammootty
plays
the
central
character
of
the
movie,
while
Asha
Sarath
and
Mamta
Mohandas
essay
the
female
leads.
Varsham

Beyond.
Venugopal
aka
Venu
(Mammootty)
is
a
complete
family
man,
who
lives
for
his
family.
He
returns
to
his
native,
resigning
his
job
in
Gulf,
to
spent
the
rest
of
his
life
with
his
family.
His
family
consists
of
his
loving
wife
Nandini
(Asha
Sarath)
and
their
only
son
Anand
(Master
Prajwal
Prasad).
Venu
starts
a
small
scale
Finance
company,
named
Anand
Finance.
The
company
raises
to
popularity
within
a
small
time
span
and
enters
into
the
good
book
of
the
people.
Venu's
gain
was
the
loss
for
Manavalan
Peter
(TG
Ravi),
who
runs
a
big
finance
company.
Peter
develops
an
enemity
towards
Venu
and
he
decides
to
avenge
his
company's
lose.
Venu,
who
is
a
doting
father
has
big
plans
for
his
son
and
wants
to
make
him
a
doctor.
But
the
sudden
death
of
Anand,
leaves
Venu
and
Nandini
shattered
and
the
couple
takes
a
long
time
to
recover
from
the
shock.
This
incident
changes
Venu's
total
perception
towards
life
and
that
forms
the
rest
of
the
story.
Mammootty
delivers
his
best
performance
in
recent
times
as
Venu.
The
actor
once
again
proves
his
mettle
to
play
emotional
scenes
with
a
balanced
act.
While
Asha
Sarath
struggles
to
play
the
role
of
a
typical
housewife
in
the
first
half,
she
excels
in
the
second
half
with
perfectly
delivered
emotional
scenes.
Mamta
Mohandas,
who
plays
Dr
Jayashree
does
her
role
to
near
perfection.
Master
Prajwal
Prasad,
who
portrays
Venu
and
Nandini's
son
Anand,
is
convincing
in
his
role.
Rest
of
the
cast
did
complete
justice
to
their
respective
characters.
Script
and
Direction
Ranjth
Sankar's
script
is
simply
flawless.
The
writer-director
manages
to
bring
up
a
very
simple
theme
and
portray
it
without
any
entertaining
gimmicks
or
over-dosage
of
sentiments.
Technical
Aspects
Manoj
Pillai's
cinematography
creates
a
perfect
ambiance
for
the
simple
plot.
Editing
by
Sagar
Das
is
up
to
standard.
Music
and
Background
Score
Bijibal's
creates
a
perfect
mood
for
the
movie
with
his
background
score
and
the
songs
are
fine.
