Haram Movie Review: A Total Disappointment
Haram, the romantic thriller starring Fahadh Faasil has hit the theatres today. The movie is directed by popular editor Vinod Sukumaran. Bollywood actress Radhika Apte plays the female lead opposite Fahadh Faasil in the movie. Haram is penned by Vinod Sukumaran himself.
Rajshri Deshpande, Sagarika, Sreekumar, Madhupal, Binoy, Valsala Menon, and Seenath play the supporting roles in the movie. Popular music band Thaikkudam Bridge has composed the music. Sathish Kurup handles the cinematography. Haram is produced by P Sukumar and Saji Samuel, under the banners Odd Impressions and Big Leaf.
Haram Story
Balu (Fahadh Faasil) is an IT professional, who works in Bangalore. He falls in love with his colleague Isha (Radhika Apte) and she reciprocates. The relationship develops soon and Balu and Isha get married. But the couple later realises that things are not easier as they imagined. The couple soon drifts apart due to differences and files for divorce. This forms the crux of the story.
Haram Cast And Performance
Fahadh Faasil steals the show with his charming performance and this turns out be the sole saving grace of the movie. Radhika Apte, who makes her Malayalam debut, completely shines in the role with her matured performance. Rest of the cast, including Rajshri Deshpande, Sagarika, Sreekumar, Madhupal, Binoy, Valsala Menon and Seenath perfectly play their parts. Renji Panicker, who makes a cameo appearance, is just ok in his role.
Script And Direction
The ineffective script makes movie the dull and sluggish. The movie, which narrates a relevant theme, fails to engage the audience. Haram, runs through a slow pace from the beginning to climax.
Some unwanted elements were added to the plot, which makes the main story-line even more boring. Especially, the sub-plot and some particular scenes looks totally irrelevant and out of place.
Technical Aspects
Sathish Kurup's cinematography makes the movie a complete visual treat. The effective cinematography helps to conceal the inbuilt boredom of the movie to an extent. The editing, which is handled by director-writer Vinod Sukumaran himself, is completely ineffective.
Music And Background Score
Songs composed by popular music band Thaikkudam Bridge doesn't meet expectations. But the band gains points for the decent background score.
Verdict
A relevant theme, which fails to impress due to ineffective scripting. A total disappointment.

Fahadh Faasil As Balu
Fahadh plays Balu to near perfection and his performance turns out be the sole saving grace of the movie.

Radhika Apte
Radhika Apte, who makes her Malayalam debut, completely shines in the role with her matured performance.

Haram revolves around the troubled marriage of Balu and Isha, who works for an IT company in a metro city. The movie talks about the increasing divorces and break-ups.
