Chunkzz is the comedy entertainer which is directed by Happy Wedding fame Omar Lulu. The movie features Honey Rose, Balu Varghese, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Vishak Nair, Ganapathy, etc., in the lead roles. Chunkzz is produced by Vaishak Rajan for Vaishaka Cynyma.
Chunkzz Story
Romario, Atmaram, Riyas and Yudas, are four friends who study at the all-boys mechanical department of a popular engineering college. Romario's childhood friend Riya joins their class in the 4th year, thus becoming the only girl of the class.
Along with Riya, another girl named Sherin also enters the boys' lives. What happens in the life of the boys after the entry of Riya and Sherin forms the crux of the story.
Performances
The Lead Cast
Balu Varghese, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Ganapathy, and Vishak Nair have played the roles of Romario, Atmaram, Riyas, and Yudas, to near perfection. Dharmajan deserves a special mention for his exceptional comic timing.
Leading Ladies
Honey Rose, who plays Riya, looks simply stunning in the role of a college student and makes a mark with her charming screen presence.
Merina, who essays the character Sherin, has also delivered a decent performance.
Siddique & Lal
Siddique and actor-director Lal, who essay pivotal roles in the movie, have played their parts exceptionally well. The duo succeeds in entertaining the audiences with their camaraderie and comical timing.
Script & Direction: Omar Lulu
Omar Lulu, the writer-director has been successful in delivering an entertainer which will satisfy the youth audiences. The portrayal of college life and friendship will surely attract the youngsters. But Chunkzz falls flat when it comes to the comedy factor.
The comedy sequences filled with double-meaning dialogues might not go well with all types of audiences, who expect a classy comical entertainer. Most of the comical situations look forced and half-baked, thus leaving the movie an unsatisfying watch.
Supporting Cast
The supporting actors, including Shammi Thilakan, Kailash, Harish Kanaran, etc., make a mark with their energetic performances.
Cinematography: Alby
Alby's beautiful visualisation makes Chunkzz a total colourful watch. The cinematographer deserves a special mention for the wonderfully picturised song sequences.
Music: Gopi Sundar
Gopi Sundar's songs have already entered the hit charts of Mollywood. The National award winner fails to impress with the background score, which is an overdose of inspirations from popular old background scores.
