definitely
high
on
this

have
fared
for
the
movie..
Director
-
Arun
Kumar
Aravind
Arun
Kumar
Aravind
has
tried
out
a
genre,
that
is
completely
different
from
that
of
his
previous
movies.
He
takes
the
audiences
back
to
the
days
of
the
1960s
and
the
1970s.
In
fact,
he
has
come
out
successful
in
depicting
that
particular
time
period
on
screen.
Kaattu
has
its
story
set
in
a
premise
which
might
not
be
that
common
for
the
present
day
audiences.
But,
Arun
Kumar
Aravind
with
his
crafting
pattern
has
made
it
more
relatable.
He
takes
his
own
time
to
to
bring
in
and
detail
each
character
of
the
movie.
He
has
added
some
required
commercial
elements
but
not
at
the
cost
of
the
overall
quality
of
the
product.
We
see
him
narrating
the
tale
in
the
best
possible
way..
Arun
Kumar
Aravind
has
made
the
best
use
of
all
the
actors
and
the
result
could
be
seen
on
screen.
Script
-
Anantha
Padmanabhan
Anantha
Padmanabhan,
son
of
writer
and
film-maker
P
Padmarajan
has
penned
the
screenplay
for
the
film.
The
main
characters
of
the
movie
are
based
on
the
short
story
Ranimarude
Kudumbam,
penned
by
P
Padmarajan
He
has
etched
his
characters
pretty
well
placing
them
in
a
story
line
which
has
its
own
uniqueness.
The
elements
of
love,
revenge
and
traditions
have
been
placed
nicely
in
the
storyline
through
well-written
sequences.
The
dialogues
written
by
Anantha
Padmanabhan
are
particularly
well.
At
the
same
time,
some
of
the
concepts
penned
by
the
writer
may
not
be
acceptable
in
the
present
day
scenario.
Asif
Ali
As
Nuhukkannu
Definitely,
it
is
one
of
the
best
performances
of
Asif
Ali.
His
intent
to
do
such
variety
roles
is
commendable.
He
plays
the
role
of
Nuhukannu,
a
naive
and
sincere
guy,
who
is
only
bright
in
his
own
areas.
The
actor
is
seen
in
an
altogether
new
getup
and
has
given
a
controlled
performance
without
going
overboard
even
in
intense
sequences
and
thus
making
Nuhukannu
a
believable
character.
Murali
Gopy
As
Chellappan
Murali
Gopy
essays
a
rustic
character
named
Chellappan
who
has
his
own
gang
of
friends.
Once
again,
the
actor
has
come
up
with
a
credible
performance.
He
has
done
such
characters
in
the
past
and
he
has
put
in
that
experience
to
the
play.
He
steals
the
show
with
his
powerful
performance
in
some
of
the
sequences.
The
Leading
Ladies
Varalaxmi
Sarathkumar
plays
the
role
of
Muthulaxmi,
a
girl
of
Tamil
origin.
The
role
suits
her
pretty
well
and
she
has
portrayed
the
role
to
perfection.
On
the
other
hand,
Manasa
Radhakrishnan
who
has
played
the
role
of
Ummukkulusu
looked
graceful
in
the
film
and
definitely
is
an
upcoming
talent.
Rest
Of
The
Cast
Kaattu
also
features
Unni
P.
Dev,
son
of
Rajan
P
Dev
in
an
important
role.
The
film
has
explored
the
acting
talent
in
him
and
he
is
sure
to
get
some
big
opportunities
after
this.
Apart
from
him,
Kaattu
also
features
a
host
of
new
actors
in
important
roles.
Kaattu
has
some
brilliant
frames
by
Prasanth
Raveendran.
He
has
captured
some
raw
and
real
visuals
which
add
the
intensity
to
the
sequences.
Deepak
Dev
has
done
a
commendable
job
with
the
BGM
&
Music.
Editing
by
Arun
Kumar
Aravind
is
good
but
at
the
same
time,
he
could
have
kept
an
eye
on
the
running
length
of
the
film.
Art
department
requires
a
huge
round
of
applause
for
an
excellent
work.
Overall
View
First
thing
first,
Kaattu
has
its
story
set
in
the
1970s
and
it
deals
with
the
lives,
the
traditions
and
the
culture
of
those
days.
Hence,
one
should
approach
the
film
with
such
a
mindset
to
experience
and
enjoy
Kaattu.
Kaattu
has
some
amazing
performances
and
the
intensity
of
the
film
grows
as
the
movie
progresses
and
we
get
to
witness
some
raw
and
real
characters,
which
are
not
a
part
of
the
today's
society.
It
also
shows
us
how
the
traditions
of
those
days
had
affected
the
lives
of
the
people.
At
the
same
time,
the
film
is
slightly
longer
and
defiinitely
could
have
been
trimmed
down.
Nevertheless,
narrates
what
it
intended
to
tell.
Moreover,
Kaattu
is
a
good
piece
of
art,
which
is
a
must
watch.
Verdict
Kaattu
is
a
genuine
attempt
and
is
definitely
a
work
that
must
be
lauded.
If
you
watch
the
film
keeping
in
mind
that
the
story
of
the
film
is
set
in
1970s,
then
you
can
surely
enjoy
Kaattu
to
the
fullest.
