Sunday
Holiday,
Asif
Ali's
most
recent
outing,
has
hit
the
theatres
today.
The
film,
directed
by
Bicycle
Thieves
fame
Jis
Joy,
has
been
produced
by
MAQTRO
pictures.
Jis
Joy,
the
director
himself
has
penned
the
script
for
the
movie.
Sunday
Holiday
has
come
in
with
the
tag
of
a
feel-good
movie
and
let's
see
whether
the
film
has
justified
the
tag.
Synopsis
Sunday
Holiday
is
about
Unni
Mukundan,
a
college
lecturer
in
person,
who
dreams
to
make
it
big
in
films.
One
Sunday,
he
gets
to
meet
David
Paul,
a
producer,
who
has
been
admitted
to
a
hospital.
Unni
Mukundan
narrates
a
story
to
him
and
Sunday
Holiday
takes
us
through
the
rest
of
the
interesting
happenings.
Parallely,
Sunday
Holiday
also
narrates
the
life
of
Amal,
a
youngster
who
is
affected
by
some
problemsof
the
past.

the
cast
&
crew
members
of
Sunday
Holiday
have
fared
for
the
movie..
Asif
Ali
As
Amal
Asif
Ali
appears
as
a
youngster
named
Amal,
who
leaves
his
hometown
due
to
some
problems.
The
role
was
safe
in
the
hands
of
Asif
Ali.
The
actor
rightly
delivered,
what
was
expected
from
him.
Importantly,
we
could
see
the
actor
in
him
maturing
well
and
his
performance
in
this
movie,
proves
that
point.
Sreenivasan
As
Unni
Mukundan
Well,
Sreenivasan
is
definitely
one
of
the
high
points
of
the
movie.
The
actor
gets
to
play
a
college
professor
named
Unni
Mukundan,
who
is
aiming
to
make
it
big
in
films
as
a
writer.
His
interesting
one-liners,
counters
and
conversations,
keep
the
audiences
entertained,
most
of
the
times.
A
tailor-made
role
for
the
actor
in
him.
Aparna
Balamurali
As
Anu
Aparna
Balamurali
plays
the
leading
lady
of
the
movie.
She
appears
as
Anu,
a
bold
and
matured
girl,
who
is
an
independent
woman.
In
fact,
Anu
has
some
shades
of
the
character
Jimsy
from
Maheshinte
Prathikaram,
in
it.
Aparna
plays
her
part
to
perfection,
once
again.
Siddique
As
Naakutti
Siddique's
Naakutti
is
one
of
the
well-developed
characters
in
the
movie.
Naakutti
is
a
writer,
who
pens
the
dialogues
and
songs
for
the
dubbed
movies
from
Telugu.
A
rather
interesting
character,
portrayed
exceedingly
well
by
the
multi-faceted
actor.
Rest
Of
The
Cast
For
the
first
time,
we
get
to
see
Lal
Jose
in
a
full-length
role
and
he
is
convincing
in
his
portrayal
of
David
Paul.
Asha
Sarath
appears
as
Dr
Sreedhanya
but
felt
like
her
character
could
have
been
utilised
much
more.
Dharmajan,
once
again
tickle
the
bones
with
his
effective
one-liners.
Sunday
Holiday
also
features
Bhagath
Manuel,
Shruthi
Ramachandran,
Alencier
Ley,
Sudheer
Karaman
etc.,
in
important
roles.
Script
&
Direction
–
Jis
Joy
Jis
Joy,
who
had
earlier
helmed
the
movie
Bicycle
Thieves,
has
handled
an
entirely
different
plot
with
Sunday
Holiday.
The
effort
that
he
has
put
in
to
come
with
a
multi-layered
narration
is
quite
evident
as
he
has
packed
the
script
in
a
way,
which
is
less
confusing.
The
film
has
a
thin
storyline,
but
the
screenplay
packs
a
punch,
many
times.
The
director
in
him
has
ably
packaged
the
entire
product
adding
the
necessary
entertainment
quotient.
There
are
certain
instances
in
the
second
half
where
one
gets
the
feel
that
he
is
losing
the
grip,
but
he
comes
back
strongly
with
some
engaging
elements.
Jis
Joy
has
come
out
successful
in
giving
the
film,
a
feel-good
label.
Other
Technical
Aspects
The
cinematography
of
Sunday
Holiday
has
been
handled
by
Alex
J
Pulickal
and
he
has
done
a
neat
job.
A
special
mention
for
the
lighting
techniques
adapted.
Editing
by
Ratheesh
Raj
is
neat
and
crisp.
It
was
refreshing
to
hear
the
songs
set
to
tune
by
Deepak
Dev.
Overall
View
First
things
first,
Sunday
Holiday
is
a
simple
feel-good
movie
and
is
not
in
the
lines
of
the
team's
previous
venture
Bicycle
Thieves,
which
had
a
twists
galore.
But
still,
Sunday
Holiday
has
some
minor
twists,
which
serve
its
purpose
up
to
an
extent.
Sunday
Holiday
is
dedicated
to
all
those
who
dream
and
aspire
about
movies.
It
puts
forward
an
important
message
that
age
is
not
a
barrier
to
dream
about
films
and
Sreenivasan's
character
shows
that
perfectly.
Also
the
movie
points
out
some
important
points
on
how
a
good
film
or
story
is
born.
The
film
has
some
real
good
moments
throughout,
especially
in
the
first
half
of
the
movie,
which
are
sure
to
bring
in
smile
to
your
face.
Yes,
there
are
some
cliched
moments,
here
and
there,
but
that
doesn't
take
away
the
cuteness
of
the
movie.
After
the
climax,
one
would
get
a
satisfied
feel,
having
watched
a
good
film.
Verdict
Sunday
Holiday,
is
a
good
treat
by
Jis
Joy
and
team.
Besides
being
a
feel-good
movie,
it
has
some
elements
of
inspiration
as
well.
Rightly,
a
good
watch
for
your
next
holiday.
