Padayottam
had
set
everything
in
the
right
place
right
with
its
massy
posters
and
fun-filled
teasers,
which
promised
the
audiences
of
the
film
with
an
interesting
mix.
Has
Padayottam
lived
up
to
the
big
expectations
and
offered
the
audiences
a
racy
entertainer
laced
with
fun?

The
story
of
Padayottam
revolves
around
a
group
of
four
including
Chenkal
Reghu,
who
are
in
a
journey
towards
Kasargode
to
take
revenge
for
one
of
their
friends,
who
was
attacked
by
a
person.
The
film
traverses
the
interesting
incidents
that
happen
in
their
journey
from
Thiruvananthapuram
to
Kasargode.
The
best
part
of
Padayottam
is
in
the
fact
that
it
is
an
entertainer,
which
evolves
itself
into
that
form
by
becoming
a
road
movie.
It
is
indeed
an
interesting
mix
of
genre,
which
has
not
been
tried
much
in
Malayalam
cinema
and
Rafeeq
Ibrahim
has
treated
the
film
with
utmost
care.
He
has
used
the
right
pace
required
for
the
film
without
losing
the
prime
focus
of
entertaining
the
people
and
as
a
film-maker,
he
has
tried
to
bring
in
some
difference
in
the
narrative
pattern,
especially
the
way
in
which
he
has
sprung
the
surprises.
The
script
of
the
film
penned
by
Arun
AR
&
Ajai
Rahul
has
some
interesting
events
setup
at
the
first
place,
especially
during
the
journey
of
Chenkal
Reghu
&
team.
There
are
some
fine
one-liners,
which
are
sure
to
evoke
laughter.
However,
a
bit
more
care
could
have
been
given
to
the
second
half
of
the
film
where
there
were
moments
that
went
wayward
but
still
the
film-maker
pulls
the
journey
back
towards
the
end
of
the
movie
with
twists
and
turns
that
gel
nicely
with
the
movie.
Biju
Menon
as
Chenkal
Reghu
is
the
backbone
of
the
movie
and
he
steals
the
show,
who
is
indeed
a
mix
of
mass
and
entertainment.
The
way
in
which
he
has
handled
the
dialect
is
impressive
and
he
does
offer
loads
of
moments
of
entertainment.
Saiju
Kurup,
Dileesh
Pothen
and
Sudhi
Koppa
ably
support
Biju
Menon
in
the
journey,
as
they
do
their
parts
extremely
well.
Basil
Joseph
impresses
yet
again
with
his
acting
skills.
Anu
Sithara
didn't
have
much
to
perform.
Lijo
Jose
Pellissery
was
impressive
in
his
role.
Padayottam
also
features
Ganapathy,
Suresh
Krishna,
etc.,
in
important
roles.
Music
by
Prasanth
Pillai
deserves
special
mention,
especially
the
BGM.
The
score
for
Chenkal
Reghu
is
sure
to
gain
the
attention
of
the
audiences.
Cinematography
by
Satheesh
Kurup
is
fine
and
so
is
the
case
of
editing
works
by
Ratheesh
Raj.
Padayottam
is
one
such
movie
that
stays
loyal
to
the
tag
of
a
fun
entertainer,
as
it
will
keep
the
audiences
engaged
throughout
the
run
time.
It
is
indeed
a
rollicking
journey
with
Chenkal
Reghu
and
team.
