Roopa Sri Responds To Shakeela’s Allegations, Clarifies Harassment Incident On Malayalam Film Set As A Mix-Up

Shakeela Alleges Harassment Incident Involving Roopa Sri on Malayalam Film Set: In a recent TV interview, actress Shakeela made allegations about an incident of harassment on the set of a Malayalam movie, where actress Roopa Sri was the heroine. Shakeela claimed to have witnessed the harassment of Roopa Sri during the filming, which also featured the late actor Kalabhavan Mani in a prominent role.
Roopa Sri, a well-known Tamil television actress famous for her roles in the Vijay TV serial "Bharathi Kannamma" and Sun TV's "Ranjithame," has now responded to these allegations in an interview with "Oneindia Tamil." While she acknowledged that some aspects of Shakeela's account were accurate, Roopa Sri was quick to clarify that the incident in question was not one of sexual harassment but rather a misunderstanding that led to a dispute.
Roopa Sri Clarifies Incident As Misunderstanding, Not Harassment
Roopa Sri recounted the events, explaining that she was working as the second lead in the Malayalam film when the incident occurred. Shakeela was also part of the cast. According to Roopa Sri, the issue arose on a particular day when she was alone on set. A group of intoxicated men caused a disturbance regarding her call sheet, creating a chaotic situation. Shakeela and her brother intervened and offered assistance, helping to defuse the tension. However, Roopa Sri emphasized that the incident was not premeditated and was merely the result of a misunderstanding.
In her statement, Roopa Sri dismissed the allegations of sexual harassment, insisting that she has continued her career in the industry without facing any such issues. She expressed that the incident was blown out of proportion due to misinterpretation.
Shakeela's revelation comes at a time when discussions about the safety of women in the Malayalam film industry are gaining momentum. The ongoing debate has brought to light various concerns about the working environment for female actors and crew members in the industry, making this incident particularly noteworthy.
