After the colossal success of Piya Basanti, Ustad Sultan Khan returns this time with three of the hottest singing divas for a brand new album. This album features Chitra, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal lending their vocals along side the legendary Khan Saab on six tracks, the album.
Tell us about this new music album of yours?
There are six tracks in the album. All are romantic tracks with Hindustani music without any western flavour. Chitra, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal have also sung with me for the album. All the songs are very melodious and very beautiful.
What kind of music has Sandesh Shandilya given?
Sandesh is a very talented music director. He composes very beautiful and melodious tunes. In fact, I had worked with him before for Piya Basanti and Pyar Ke Geet, so you know the kind of music he can make. There is a certain balance that a music director has to achieve while composing but making the music extremely high or low is something that he can do very well. Be young or old, people of all generation will enjoy the songs.
How was the experience of working with Chitra again after Piya Basanti?
The experience was very nice. Things are very relaxed while working with Chitra. I know that while working with veteran artistes like me, the younger people get nervous but I try to manage things well. The amazing quality about Chitra is that though she can't speak Hindi very well, when she sings in Hindi, she is amazing.
There are also young talents like Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghosal singing with you. How was the experience with them?
As I said before, I see to it that people working with me are comfortable and relaxed without any kind of pressure. I might have aged but I am a nice person by nature. Besides I think the combination is very amazing. My voice is old and theirs is young with a certain level of innocence and freshness. So, it is a very interesting mix that has been done. Besides, both Sunidhi and Shreya are extremely talented girls.
This album is going to be launched on YBR, a new music label by T-series. Do you feel special about this as yours is going to be the first album of the label?
I feel very happy about it. I think that a person should think, watch and listen to good things and that is what this album will do. People have worked very hard to make this album special - be it the singers, music director Sandesh Shandilya or music programmers Salim-Sulaiman. So it's been a great experience. Besides, in this album, you'll not find anything artificial. Nothing is fake or made up in this album. It is properly balanced with no element more or less.
How was the experience with Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao who are the Creative directors and CEO of YBR Records Pvt Ltd?
They were just amazing. Both of them were completely involved in the making of the album. They are extremely hard working and that is how teamwork should be. Both of them were supportive throughout the making of the album.
