Mumbai (UNI): The soundtrack of 'Dharm', directed by Bhavna Talwar, India's entry to the prestigious Cannes Film Festival 2007 was launched at Planet M.
This is the first time that a debut film of a woman director is being showcased at Cannes. The original Soundtrack (OST) of 'Dharm', composed by Debajyoti Mishra captures the essence of the protaganist - Pandit Ram Narayan Chaturvedi, a Brahmin priest's - journey towards reaffirmation of his faith and beliefs.
The music is a blend of both classical music with haunting vedic chants, and modern contemporary style.
Before her directorial debut, Bhavna Talwar had worked for The Asian Age, and ad-filmmaker Johnny Pinto. She believes in making meaningful films that convey a message and prefers 'critical acclaim' to commercial success.
