Tahaan
which
is
a
fable
about
an
eight-year-old
boy
Tahaan
and
his
donkey
was
released
in
Mumbai
on
Tuesday.
The
film
has
been
extensively
shot
at
picturesque
town
Pahalgam
in
Jammu
and
Kashmir.
At
the
music
release
function
whole
Bollywood
glitterati
were
present.
The
film
Tahaan
is
produced
under
the
banner
of
'I
Dream
Productions'.
The
film
is
directed
by
award
winning
director
Santosh
Sivan
who
is
known
for
his
films
Asoka,
The
Terrorist
and
Before
the
Rains.
Sivan's
Tahaan
stars
Purav
Bhandare,
Rahul
Bose,
Anupam
Kher,
Sarika,
Victor
Banerjee
and
Rahul
Khanna.
Tahaan
depicts
a
fable-like
journey
of
the
eponymous
eight-year-old
boy,
whose
life
revolves
around
the
pursuit
to
find
real
purpose
in
his
little
world.
Speaking
to
the
media,
one
of
the
two
music
directors
of
the
film
Taufique
Qureshi
said
that
a
lot
of
original
Kashmiri
music
has
been
used
in
the
film.
"I
have
used
original
Kashmiri
music
in
the
film
which
has
been
recorded
in
Kashmir.
I
have
used
a
lot
of
instruments
like
Santoor,
Rebab
and
Tumbaknari
and
many
Kashmiri
folk
artists
have
also
sung
in
the
film.
I
have
tried
improving
this
music
without
distorting
the
original
essence
and
I
hope
that
you
will
enjoy
it," said
Qureshi.
National
award
winning
actress
Sarika
is
fascinated
by
the
film's
background
score
who
said
it
was
too
nice
and
soothing
to
hear.
“I
feel
that
the
background
score
composed
by
Taufique
in
the
film
is
fabulous.
It
is
very
Kashmiri
and
soothing
to
hear
and
you
don't
feel
that
an
orchestra
comprising
50
musicians
is
used
to
compose
the
music
of
the
film
Tahaan.
It
is
very
nice," said
Sarika.
Besides
Taufique
Qureshi,
Adnan
Sami
has
also
composed
the
music
of
the
film
while
Mehboob
has
penned
the
lyrics.
Plethora
of
singers
including
Adnan
Sami,
Ritesh
Menon,
Gulzar
Ganai
and
Sumedha
Karmahe
has
lent
their
melodious
voices
to
the
songs
of
the
movie.
