After
enjoying
success
in
Bollywood,
singer
Akriti
Kakkar
will
now
be
foraying
into
non-film
album,
titled
'Akriti".
The
album
will
comprise
of
seven
tracks,
and
most
importantly,
Akriti
herself
has
composed
the
music
for
five
of
the
seven
tracks.
The
other
two
tracks
have
been
composed
by
ace
Shankar
Mahadevan.
The
songs
for
the
album
have
been
penned
down
by
Rani
Malik,
Neelesh
Misra
and
Manoj
Yadav.
The
music
videos
will
hit
the
air
on
4th
April,
and
will
be
formally
released
on
6th
April
2010.
Akriti
says,
“I
planned
to
do
this
album
to
feature
those
elements
that
I
could
not
put
forth
in
my
films.
I
wanted
to
explore
my
spectrum
and
the
come
up
with
something
fresh
and
invigorating.
I
have
not
stereotyped
the
album
or
tried
to
slot
it
into
one
particular
genre.
I
even
have
a
track
dedicated
to
Noor
Jahan,
and
it
is
my
tribute
to
her
since
I"ve
been
a
big
fan
of
her
since
childhood.
Other
than
that,
there
is
a
nice
romantic
track
and
an
interesting
drama
oriented
number."
Although
sales
for
non-film
albums
are
hitting
an
all
time
low,
Akriti
is
visibly
upbeat
about
her
pet
project.
However,
she
does
agree
that
the
genre
is
slowly
dying
away.
Upon
this,
she
says,
“I
think
this
is
the
best
time
to
launch
an
album,
for
the
condition
cannot
improve
than
it
is
right
now.
As
a
singer
and
composer,
I"d
definitely
like
to
see
the
genre
reviving
and
stabilizing
but
I
really
don"t
know
how
far
that
is
possible.
The
media
is
not
giving
the
desired
airtime
and
piracy
is
hitting
big
time.
The
budgets
for
the
album
are
also
tight
and
therefore
promotions
and
marketing
is
a
tough
task."
Akriti
started
her
career
in
Bollywood
with
'Chamm
Se
Vo
Aa
Jaye" in
Dus
and
went
on
to
sing
for
some
major
projects
like
Namaste
London,
Kismat
Konnection,
Golmaal
Returns
and
several
more.
On
the
state
of
the
industry
and
the
quality
of
the
music
she
muses,
“There
are
a
lot
of
good
tracks
which
go
unnoticed
due
to
restraints
on
promotions
and
marketing
and
thus
a
lot
of
inferior
tracks
go
on
to
become
the
chartbusters.
The
people
are
bound
to
like
what
they
have
easy
access
to.
I
agree
that
many
singers
have
to
do
simple
projects
for
the
daily
bread
and
butter,
but
since
I
could
afford
some
time,
I
decided
to
work
on
this
album."
This
one
girl
who
is
on
a
major
roll!
She
has
several
projects
lined
up
like
Do
Dunni
Char,
Pappu
Can"t
Dance,
Life
Isse
Gaale
Laga
Le
and
some
more.
'Tere
Bin
Laden"
which
is
a
spoof
on
terrorism
will
also
feature
Akriti
Kakkar
under
the
Shanker
Ehsaan
Loy
banner.
Also
on
the
cards
are
stage
shows
and
reality
shows
which
would
give
this
girl
the
boost
that
she
deserves!
