Javed Akhtar nominated for Rajya Sabha

It's said that hard work never goes unnoticed. And for someone who is of the enviable stature of Javed Akhtar, who also happens to be one of the most respected personalities globally, this was something that was longtime overdue.

Javed, alongwith, four other prominent personalities were nominated to the Rajya Sabha by President Pratibha Patil yesterday. Besides Javed, the four others who were nominated included Ram Dayal Munda, Bhalchandra Mungeker, B. Jayashree and Mani Shankar Aiyar.

Having started his journey decades back, Javed Akhtar, today, is one of the most sought-after lyricists in Bollywood. He also happens to the proud and the deserving recipient of the Padma Bhushan in 2007 and the Padma Shri in 1999.
