It has been just two days since Phir Mile Sur has aired on television but the song has already drawn sharp reactions from the people of India. Some missed the nostalgia that was there in the original Mile Sur Mera Tumhara. Others feel that it was too much of a Bollywood fair and may cultural icons and sports person have been left out in the video. There are some who believe that North East has been left out of the 16 minute song.

Deepti Dayal says “Original Mile Sur Mera Tumhara was no less than National Anthem. It was really soothing and encouraging, Unity in Diversity and more Importantly-United we Stand. Message is unsuccessfully tried to be communicated through Actors and Actresses who have limited presence to their target viewers plus they don't represent India in any sense." Naveen echoes her and says “I believe one can't commercialize and Bollywoodize the legendary song more than that."

Pankaj who is upset with the new version of the song says “In new version, there are lots of Bollywood faces. Was it necessary? Is Bollywood only uniting whole India or Was is it because of TV? New version is pathetic and Boring. No mention of NE. I like old Mile Sure. Finally Old is Gold. Samiron Kahali feels the song left out the cultural icons and says “I am afraid these so called bollywood icons will try to replace Rabindra Nath Tagore to promote their self interest."

Ajay adds “The songs is definitely missing the soul. Hope at least because of this people show interest in the original version which is a real master piece. Many of the celebrities appeared in the songs were representing nothing but themselves." Divya Sharma Karmakr is upset with North East being left out and says “North East has been left out. The only good thing is the addition of the clippings of armed forces."
