Popular Pakistani singer Adnan Sami, who is currently judging Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs 2011, has to leave India soon, as he is not a citizen of the country, but Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh wants him to stay. The congress leader met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene and let him stay longer in the country.

“I met the Prime Minister on the issue. I support Adnan Sami and have requested the Prime Minister to allow him an extension for staying further in India. He is a good singer and has a lot of fan following in this country. He wants to stay in this country, He should be allowed to stay here," DNA quoted Digvijay Singh as saying. He added that the Prime Minister and the Home Minister have assured to help him stay in the country.

It may be recalled that the Enforcement Directorate confiscated Adnan Sami"s properties in December 2010, alleging that he has acquired immovable assets in India without the permission of Reserve Bank of India. The Enforcement Directorate alleged that he has violated Foreign Exchange Management (acquisition and transfer of immovable property in India) Regulations, 2000, as he is a Pakistani national.

Adnan is a Pakistani origin, born and brought up in London. Indian legendary singer Asha Bhosle spotted the 10-year-old boy at an RD Burman concert and encouraged him to take up music career. He later took singing lessons from Pandit Shivkumar Sharma.
