Pritam files legal case against Turkish songwriter
Indian
oi-Kalyani Prasad Keshri
By Kalyani Prasad Keshri
Music
director
Pritam
Chakraborty
has
filed
a
criminal
complaint
against
Turkish
songwriter
Mohammed
Azam
who
has
been
threatening
him,
saying
that
he
would
degrade
his
image
infront
of
the
press.
Azam
claims
that
Pritam
had
stolen
(plagiarised)
a
song
written
by
him.
A
few
days
ago,
Azam
had
filed
a
case
against
Pritam
alleging
that
he
has
plagiarised
his
lyrics
for
the
popular
song
'Character
Dheela
Hai'
from
Salman
Khan's
Ready.
But
on
Wednesday,
the
Bombay
High
Court
dismissed
Azam"s
petition,
stating
that
Pritam
was
not
the
lyricist.
When
later
Pritam
received
threatening
messages,
he
was
compelled
to
take
legal
actions.
Reportedly
the
frequent
threatening
messages
had
become
a
mental
torture
for
the
star
composer.
Azam
however,
claims
that
he
had
registered
the
song
with
the
Writers
Association
in
July
2007.
He
filed
a
plagiarism
case
against
Pritam
in
a
Mumbai
Court,
but
lost
in
May
23,
2011.
He
then
appealed
in
the
Bombay
High
Court
and
was
again
dismissed
by
Justice
AR
Joshi
who
found
no
merit
in
the
case.
Pritam"s
lawyer
Henal
Dhruva
Vakharia
confirmed
the
news
saying
that
the
composer
had
to
take
a
legal
action
this
time.
