With the celebration of 72nd birth anniversary of the legendary music composer Rahul Dev Burman, popularly known as Panchamda or RD Burman, Eros International has planned to make a biopic on him. The production house has registered the title RD in association with Motion Pictures and Television Programme Producers (AMTPP).

It is reported that the film is inspired by the life of the late artist. The movie will be scripted by Soumik Sen, who has also penned the Kishore Kumar biopic, which will be directed by Anurag Basu and starred by Ranbir Kapoor. Reportedly, the name of the character in the biopic will be altered to avoid any controversy regarding the course of the screenplay.

The movie will have also incorporate a considerable number of Panchamda's compositions. SaReGaMa has the rights to most of the songs and Eros has expressed an interest in acquiring them. When contacted, Sen confirmed Mid Day, "I've been told to develop a script on the protagonist who's a very talented music composer. It's too early to say anything more. Except that it is a completely fictional take." Apurva Nagpal, managing director, SaReGaMa informed, "Eros has spoken to us about their film called RD. It's way to early to speak anything on the subject."

Well, we will wait for the right time to get more information about the project.
