appointed
as
the
Tobacco
Control
Ambassador
for
the
country
by
the
health
ministry
at
a
function
held
at
the
Tata
Memorial
Hospital,
Parel.

Prasad,
joint
secretary
of
Union
Health
Ministry
and
Family
Welfare,
told
that
Shaan
as
an
youth
icon,
will
help
curbing
the
tobacco
use
among
the
youngsters.
"According
to
the
2010
Global
Youth
Tobacco
Survey,
almost
14.5%
of
the
tobacco
consumers
belong
to
the
13
to
15
age
group," informed
Prasad.
Shaan
who
has
influenced
the
young
Indians
by
the
power
of
his
voice
has
released
a
song,
written
by
Rekha
Nigam,
which
aims
at
curbing
tobacco
use.
“Tobacco
consumers
are
like
suicide
bombers
-
killing
themselves
and
threatening
others
by
passive
smoking,"
told
Shaan.
The
singer
even
expressed
his
grief
at
losing
his
father,
who
was
a
tobacco
addict,
at
the
age
of
43
to
cancer.
