Manasi Parekh Gohil doing musical play MPGR

Actress Manasi Parekh Gohil, who has recently won a singing reality show, has bagged an opportunity that allows her to both act and sing in front of live audience. The TV star actress is now doing a musical play called 'Maro Piyu Gayo Rangoon'. This play is commissioned by the Globe Theatre in London.

The Globe Theatre has selected a total of 37 plays from across the world. Since it’s Shakespeare’s 500th anniversary in 2012, all plays will be adaptations of his works. Only two plays have been commissioned from India and Manasi's musical play 'Maro Piyu Gayo Rangoon' is one of them.

'Maro Piyu Gayo Rangoon' will be premiering in the next two months and will be performed at the Globe Theatre in London and in India. Talking to an English daily, Manasi says that it is a perfect play for her as it gives her the chance to act and sing in front of a live audience. She is all excited to work under theatre director Sunil Shanbag.

Talking about her songs, Manasi says that all her songs have been written specifically for the play, which is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s 'All’s Well That Ends Well'. “It’s quite challenging because there is very less instrumentation and the songs have to convey the feel of the character in the scene. They are Indian folk-based songs,” the TOI reports the actress as saying.
