Bollywood playback singer Mohit Chauhan has tied the knot with journalist Prarthana Gehlot at a hotel near Shimla on Friday night. According to his family sources, his wedding, which was held at the hotel at Barog 10 kms from Solan, was a low key affair and only family members and close friends had attended the event.
Mohit Chauhan hails from Nahan in Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, while Prarthana, who is working with an English magazine in Delhi, belongs to Dehradun in Uttarakhand. The 48-year-old singer, who was born in 1964 in Nahan, started singing as a hobby.
But Mohit's interest grew in music and he formed his own music group The Hijackers and started stage performances. Soon he became a popular name in Himachal and adjoining states, but shot to fame nationally with his band Silk Route group which delivered the hit number 'Dooba dooba rehta hoon'.
However, Mohit Chauhan started his Bollywood career with his first song 'Gunchha Koi' in Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh! (2005). The singer later went on to sing a number of chart-busting songs in films like Delhi 6, Jab We Met and Love Aaj Kal. His most recent success was as Ranbir Kapoor's voice in the film Rockstar.
