LONDON, (Reuters) Gnarls Barkley's ''Crazy'' has stayed top of the British single charts, forcing a new release from Shayne Ward to settle for second best, according to the Official UK Charts Company.

In the album charts Streets' ''The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living'' shot straight in at number one, ousting Massive Attack's ''Collected - The Best Of'' from the top spot, the company said yesterday.

''Crazy'' made music history two weeks ago when it became the first song to reach number one based solely on computer downloads.

The song by Barkley, a made-up character and in reality a collaboration between U.S. hip-hop producer Brian Burton and singer Thomas Calloway, entered the charts before it was released in shops.

Ward's ''No Promise'' was the highest new entry at number two, pushing the iconic tune ''One'' by U2 and re-released by Mary J Blige into third.

At four was Californian band Orson with ''No Tomorrow'', while in fifth position was the second new entry into the top ten.

''SOS'' by Rihanna pushed Ne-Yo's ''So Sick'' into number six.

Indie rockers Kooks saw their single ''Naive'' drop two places to number seven but their album ''Inside In/Inside Out'' gain two places to third.

Last week's top album ''Ringleaders Of The Tormentors'' by Morrissey fell to sixth place, while Pink's ''I'm Not Dead'' dropped to eighth.
