ACM Music Awards a gala affair

The Academy of Country Music(ACM) Awards was held today and broadcasted live from MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The star studded show was star studded for many reasons. For the first time an award winner at the function was decided by country music fans. The top award of the evening went to Kenny Chesney who took the top Entertainer of the Year award. Despite his four year sweep of the award, he said that the award shouldn't have been decided by fans and that the decision let fans choose the winners online was showing "complete disrespect" to artists. Chesney led the race with 11 nominations eventually taking home 2.

The Top Male Vocalist award went to Brad Paisley who dedicated his love country music to his granddad who made him listen to Buck Owens records when he was as small as four years old. American Idol protege Carrie Underwood took the Top Female Vocalist trophy for the second time in a row. The other top vocal awards for Best Duo and Best Group went to Brooks&Dunn and Rascal Flatts.

One reason why this Awards will be remembered could be because it would be the last time that Garth Brooks will be seen performing on stage after his semi retirement. The star said that he is waiting to prepare his children to fly and then he just might consider doing something for himself. The star and his wife Trisha Yearwood were otherwise busy clicking photos away with fans after inaugurating the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project
