Madonna to become Malawi citizen

Washington (ANI): Pop queen Madonna is set to become a Malawi citizen, according to reports. The 49-year-old singer, who adopted Malawian boy David Banda has become emotionally attached to the African nation and will also be funding orphanages in the country.

The Material girl is also planning to build a 40 million-dollar school to help provide education to Malawian girls, reports Contactmusic. According to Britain's Hello! Magazine, a government official has revealed that the '4-minutes' hitmaker will be honoured for her loyalty to the country, and the government is planning to grant her the same rights as their citizens.


Madonna's documentary 'I Am Because We Are' on the plight of Malawian people was recently screened at Cannes Film Festival in France.
