Allen
has
won
a
substantial
amount
for
libel
damages
from
a
newspaper
that
laid
claim
she
had
made
offensive
remarks
about
David
and
Victoria
Beckham,
and
Ashley
and
Cheryl
Cole.
Allen,
24,
was
not
present
at
London"s
High
Court
for
the
settlement
of
her
action
over
a
May
2009
article
in
The
Sun,
headed
'Ranting
Lily',
reports
Sky
News.
According
to
her
solicitor,
the
article
had
suggested
she
had
made
various
offensive
remarks
about
the
two
couples
in
an
interview
she
had
supposedly
given
to
a
French
football
magazine
called
So
Foot.
But
Allen
had
never
been
interviewed
by
or
on
behalf
of
So
Foot
and
'she
did
not
make
these
statements
attributed
to
her
by
So
Foot
magazine'.
News
Group
Newspapers
have
agreed
to
withdraw
the
allegations,
apologise,
and
pay
Allen
damages
and
legal
costs.
The
newspaper"s
solicitor,
Mike
Patrick,
offered
'sincere
apologies'
for
the
upset
and
embarrassment
caused.
