Lily Allen wins libel damage over Beckhams, Coles

London, (ANI): Brit singer Lily Allen has won a substantial amount for libel damages from a newspaper that laid claim she had made offensive remarks about David and Victoria Beckham, and Ashley and Cheryl Cole.

Allen, 24, was not present at London"s High Court for the settlement of her action over a May 2009 article in The Sun, headed 'Ranting Lily', reports Sky News.

According to her solicitor, the article had suggested she had made various offensive remarks about the two couples in an interview she had supposedly given to a French football magazine called So Foot. But Allen had never been interviewed by or on behalf of So Foot and 'she did not make these statements attributed to her by So Foot magazine'.

News Group Newspapers have agreed to withdraw the allegations, apologise, and pay Allen damages and legal costs. The newspaper"s solicitor, Mike Patrick, offered 'sincere apologies' for the upset and embarrassment caused.
