Mackenzie Phillips' stepmoms slam her allegations

The 'Mamas And The Papas' singer John Phillips' ex-wives Michelle Phillips and Genevieve Waite have lashed out the allegations made by Mackenzie Phillips, who is his daughter with first wife Susan Adams, against him. They have claimed although John was a drug addict, he was a good man.

Mackenzie Phillips has revealed in her new memoir 'High on Arrival' that she was drugged and raped by her musician father. Her consensual incestuous affair with him began when she was 19 and it lasted a decade. However, Genevieve Waite, John Phillips' wife during a portion of the alleged affair, has denied Mackenzie's rape claims.

"John was a good man who had the disease of alcoholism and drug addiction. He was incapable, no matter how drunk or drugged he was, of having such a relationship with his own child," Associated Press quotes Genevieve Waite saying.

Mackenzie's stepmother Michelle Phillips sharply disputes the allegations of incest. She says, "I have every reason to believe it's untrue. Mackenzie has a lot of mental illness. She's had a needle stuck up her arm for 35 years. She was arrested for heroin and coke just recently. She did 'Celebrity Rehab' and now she writes a book. The whole thing is timed."

Although Mackenzie Phillips alleges her father as incest, she has lot of compassion for him. So calls her dad 'a good man'. She writes in her tell-all-book, "I am sharing my truth in the hope that it helps other incest survivors."

However, John Phillips was the chief songwriter and leader of the singing group 'Mamas And The Papas'. John Phillips was married four times. His first wife Susan Adams is Mackenzie Phillips' mother. He was the father of Jeffrey Phillips, Mackenzie Phillips, Chynna Phillips, Tamerlane Phillips, and Bijou Phillips. He died eight years ago.
