South Korean paper files a case against MJ

Washington, (ANI): michael jackson's estate is at the centre of a row involving an unpaid judgment entered against his family members. A South Korean newspaper is seeking 7.9 million dollars from the late singer's estate over cancelled concert dates, according to documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The Segye Times filed a lawsuit against the star, his mother Katherine, father Joe and brother Jermaine in 1990's, alleging the family was paid 5.5 million dollars for the shows in South Korea which were allegedly called off, reports Contactmusic. Jackson settled the claims against him in an out-of-court deal in 1992 but a court ruling was entered against his family members in 1994 demanding the remaining 4 million dollars.

And now lawyers for the paper have touched upon the case again seeking the new sum of 7.9 million dollars, after interest accrued on the amount over the last five years. It was yet to be cleared whether Jackson's estate is liable for the remaining judgement. Katherine Jackson is the only person listed in the filing who is a beneficiary of the superstar's estate.
