Fans slam John Lennon car commercial

London (ANI): John Lennon"s widow Yoko One has attracted the ire of the late Beatle"s fans for allowing his image to be used in a car advert. Fans are furious by video of the late Lennon dubbed with an actor"s words put in his mouth.

In part of message 'Lennon' says: “Do something of your own. Start something new. Live your life now." Many have appealed for a boycott of Citroën cars and started a Facebook campaign to get the commercial banned. “This is totally out of order and will be depressing millions of Lennon fans," the Daily Star quoted Bill Harry, founder of the Mersey Beat newspaper in Liverpool, as saying.

Some fans have even posted messages on Yoko"s Twitter page saying: “Shame on you." “No-one can believe John Lennon would ever have agreed for his image to be used to advertise a car. It is cheapening his memory and there is a lot of anger," Liverpool Beatles tourist guide Phil Coppell said.

Citroën have, however, defended the advert by saying Yoko, 77, and the Lennon estate permitted them to make the advert.
