London,
(ANI):
Katy
Perry
learned
to
speak
in
tongues
in
her
growing
years,
and
it
is
still
very
"normal" for
her
to
converse
in
the
controversial
holy
language.
The
25-year-old
pop
star
grew
up
in
a
strict
religious
household
with
her
pastor
parents,
who
both
preached
in
their
local
church
in
California.
Perry
has
revealed
her
parents
would
regularly
take
part
in
glossolalia
sessions—
the
muttering
of
speech-like
syllables
as
a
form
of
religious
expression.
And
the
singer
is
adamant
the
practise
was
just
another
everyday
occurrence
in
her
"nutty" household.
"(My
household
was)
strict
and
nutty...
Speaking
in
tongues
is
as
normal
to
me
as
Pass
the
salt,"
the
Daily
Star
quoted
her
as
telling
Rolling
Stone
magazine.
"A
lot
of
religions
use
meditation
or
chanting.
It's
a
secret,
direct
prayer
language
to
God.
My
dad
speaks
in
tongues
and
my
mom
interprets
it.
That's
their
gift,"
she
added.
